Older JennAir electric and gas ranges like the JDR8895AAS and JDS8850AAB use hyphenated codes, and F1-1 belongs to the oven temperature group. It means there may be a problem with the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the wiring between them. Expect the oven to stop heating or to refuse a cycle while the code shows. The cooktop side typically stays usable.
1. Press Cancel, open the door and let the cavity cool. 2. Switch off the breaker for about a minute and restore it. 3. Try a 350 degree bake for a few minutes. 4. If the display says F1-1 again, keep the oven off. The cooktop is normally still fine to use.
Older JennAir ranges write the sub-code after a hyphen. F1-1 sits in the oven temperature family along with F1-H and a few others. Older ranges write a hyphen between the digits, which separates the code groups.
It is not an emergency, but an oven that cannot read its temperature should not be used. Plan a visit soon. Leave the oven unused until a technician has checked the sensor circuit.
A sensor probe is not cleaned in normal use. Heavy spills near it can matter, but the official causes are the sensor, the control or the wiring.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
