JennAir JEC4536HB: Oblivion Glass Cooktop Service

The JEC4536HB is a 36-inch electric cooktop in the Oblivion glass design, with glass-touch controls across the front of a black surface. It is a wide unit meant for an island or a long counter, where its dark finish stands out against lighter countertops.
Black glass shows everything, so owners tend to wipe it constantly, and cleaner and moisture are what upset the controls. When a pad becomes sluggish after cleaning, we dry it and retest; if it is still slow, the board is the next suspect. Elements below the glass are tested separately for even heating.
We also look at the glass edges, because a chip in black glass can be hard to see until it spreads. Our written price comes before any work, and each repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Moisture on the glass changes how the touch sensors read, and a worn board can make it worse. We dry the pad, test the board and quote the repair if the board fails.
Light surface marks can sometimes be minimized with a cleaner for glass-ceramic tops. Deep scratches cannot be removed, and we advise on whether they are cosmetic or a risk.
Make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the control lock is off. If the element is still cold, we test its power and resistance and quote the part that has failed.
