The JEC4536YS is a 36-inch electric radiant cooktop with electronic touch controls, built for a wide island or counter cutout. You will find it paired with a hood overhead or a downdraft behind, with the power supply feeding from the cabinet below.
On a wide cooktop with touch controls, we tend to be called for three things: a pad that stops responding in one area, an element that never lights, and a surface with a mark that will not wipe off. Press and hold the lock key as the controls describe, and make sure the pad is dry. If it stays locked, the board may have failed, and we test it and quote the repair.
Elements differ in size and wattage, so the larger ring boils faster. If a ring that used to heat quickly is now slow, its limiter or the element itself may be weak, and we test both.
