JennAir JGC9430BDS 30-Inch Gas Cooktop and Glass-Ceramic Surface Repair

Glass-ceramic is an unusual surface for a gas cooktop, and the JGC9430BDS uses one across 30 inches. It looks clean and is easy to wipe, but the surface needs more care around the burner openings, where heat and spills concentrate and a crack can start.
When a burner will not light, we deal with it the same way as on any gas cooktop: remove the caps and heads, clean the ports, dry the igniter, and test the spark module. Afterward we take a close look at the glass-ceramic for hairline damage, since it can be hard to see until a spill darkens it.
Should you detect gas, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside. Pricing is written down before we start, and the repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.
A scraper can help with baked-on residue if used flat and gently, away from the burner openings. Any scratch near a burner is worth showing us before it becomes a crack.
A partly blocked port is the usual reason. We clean the burner head and cap, and if the flame is still lopsided, check that the burner is level and seated.
Turn off the burners, let the glass cool, then clean it and dry the burner parts. Liquid that reaches the igniter is a common cause of clicking, so call us if it starts.
