JennAir JID4436ES 36-Inch Induction Downdraft Cooktop Repair

The JID4436ES is a 36-inch electric induction cooktop with ventilation built into the cooktop itself, so the air is pulled down at the cooking surface instead of up into a hood. You usually find it on an island or a peninsula where a ceiling hood would not fit the design.
Two things age on this layout. The induction side depends on a power board and cooling fan sitting under the glass, and a clogged vent path lets heat build up there. The downdraft side collects grease in the filters and the duct, which slows the blower over the years.
On a visit we test every zone with a magnetic pan, then run the blower and check the filter and the duct opening. You get a written price before we touch anything, and our work carries a 30-day warranty.
Induction zones throttle or shut down when the electronics under the glass run hot or the pan is off-center. We check the cooling fan, the vent path and the pan sensing before talking about boards, since a blocked vent is a common reason.
Yes. Grease collects in the filters and the duct below the surface, and a coated filter cuts airflow quickly. We clean or replace the filters, test the blower speeds and look for restrictions in the duct run.
Induction needs cookware a magnet sticks to, such as cast iron or magnetic stainless steel. Aluminum, copper and glass pans will not register. If a pan that should work is ignored, we test the zone with a known good pan.
