On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges such as the JES1750FS and JDS1750ML, F6 E5 points to the user interface, the front control panel, or the wiring attached to it. The oven may still be capable of heating, but the panel cannot be trusted, so the display posts F6 E5 and may ignore keypresses. Cooktop burners generally continue to work.
1. Press Cancel and wipe the panel with a barely damp cloth. 2. Dry it completely. 3. Turn the range off at the breaker for a minute and back on. 4. Press each key once and see if the display responds. If it doesn't, leave the oven off and call us.
The panel may be failing to power up or to talk to the control. Reset power at the breaker first, and if the display stays dark or the code returns, the interface and its wiring need testing.
If the panel does not respond, you cannot set a cycle safely. Use the breaker to turn off anything running, and leave the oven unused until we have checked the interface and its ribbon wiring.
Both involve the interface, but they come from different code groups on different range generations. We test the panel, its ribbon wiring and the control for either code.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
