JennAir countertop and built-in-trim countertop microwaves, such as the JMC1116AS, show Door or Open/Close when the door has stayed closed for five minutes or more without the microwave being started. This is designed to prevent unintended starting. To continue, open the door, close it, and begin the cycle again. If the door is not closing fully, packing material or an obstruction may be in the way.
1. Open the door and close it firmly. 2. Remove any leftover packing material from the cavity. 3. Make sure nothing, such as a plate edge or a cover, is caught in the door. 4. Press Start again. 5. If the message appears right after closing a clear door, call us.
It does that when the door stays closed over five minutes without a cook start. This avoids accidental starting. Opening and closing the door resets the sequence.
Check for an object caught in the seal or leftover packing in the cavity. If the door closes freely and the message returns, the door latch or switch may need testing.
The wording is the same, but this explanation is for countertop units of the JMC1116AS style. Built-in microwaves and drawers have their own page, so give us the model number if you want exact guidance.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
