What F3T2 means

On JennAir over-the-range microwave hoods such as the JMV9196CS or the JMV8000 series, F3T2 (shown as F3.t2) means the convection thermistor or its wiring may have a problem. The thermistor tells the control how hot the convection air is. Owners usually find convection or bake modes will not start or shut off early, while plain microwaving can carry on. On some displays the code appears as F3.t2, and the meaning is identical.

Common causes of F3T2

  • Convection thermistor has failed or drifted
  • Wire or connector at the thermistor is loose
  • Heat damage on the sensor lead
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Cancel the cycle and let the cavity cool with the door open. 2. Remove the turntable and wipe up spills once cool. 3. Return everything and start a plain microwave run with water. 4. Avoid convection until repaired. 5. If F3T2 returns, book a visit.

! Why to stop there
  • Convection sensing and heating are linked, so a wrong reading can lead to overheating.
  • Resistance has to be measured on the sensor, which sits in the oven airflow.
  • We cannot judge sensor health by sight.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F3T2F3T2 questions
Why does only convection stop when F3T2 shows?

The convection thermistor is only needed when the hot-air system runs. Microwave energy follows another path, so plain microwaving can still work. Treat that as temporary, not a fix.

Does F3.t2 mean something different from F3T2?

Yes. Some displays render the code with a dot and a lowercase t, so you may see F3.t2 instead. It is the same message about the convection thermistor or its wiring, and the repair path does not change.

Could a dirty cavity cause F3T2?

Spills can burn near the sensor and affect readings, so a gentle clean is worth doing once cool. If the code remains with a clean cavity, the thermistor or its wire is the likely cause.
