On JennAir over-the-range microwave hoods such as the JMV9196CS or the JMV8000 series, F7 E9 asks whether the vent is blocked. The upper vent door must be able to open and close freely. If trim, cabinetry or something else holds it, the microwave could overheat, so the control stops and shows F7 E9. The door sits on top of the hood, so a quick look from above can show what is touching it.
1. Press Stop/Cancel and let the unit cool. 2. Look at the top of the microwave and clear anything touching or covering the upper vent door. 3. Check that cabinet trim is not pressing on the door. 4. Try a short run with water. 5. If F7 E9 returns, call us.
It is a flap on top of the hood that opens to release hot air while the unit runs. If it cannot move, heat stays inside, which is why the control stops with F7 E9.
Yes. Added molding, shelves or tight cabinet clearance can touch the door. Moving or trimming the obstruction usually restores operation. We can check clearances for you.
No. The warning exists because overheating is possible. Clear the blockage first, let the unit cool and call us if the code does not go away.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
