JennAir over-the-range microwave hoods, among them the JMV9196CS and JMV8000 series, show Door or Open/Close Door when the door has been closed for five minutes or more without a cooking cycle. This prevents unintended starting. Open the door, close it, then start the cycle. If the message continues, make sure the door is fully closed and the cavity holds no packing material or obstruction.
1. Open the door and shut it firmly. 2. Remove any packing material, tape or foam left in the cavity. 3. Check the door seal for food that keeps it from sealing. 4. Press Start. 5. If the message returns immediately, stop using the unit and call us.
Not usually. It is a normal prompt that appears after five idle minutes with the door closed. A quick open and close clears it, and you can then press Start as usual.
Then the door may not be pressing the switch properly. Check the seal for debris, and if it still appears, call us for a switch and latch test.
The idea is the same, but this page is for the over-the-range hood. Built-in units and drawers have their own explanation, since their door parts and the way we reach them are different.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
