F3T3 is shown by JennAir over-the-range microwave hoods, among them the JMV9196CS and JMV8000 series, when the hood temperature thermistor or its wiring may have a problem. This sensor watches the temperature of the hood section that sits above your cooktop. With F3T3 on screen, the unit may refuse to run or stop partway to protect itself. The code may show up after long cooking on the range below the hood.
1. Press Stop/Cancel and let the hood section cool. 2. Check that the underside vent and filters are free of heavy grease and nothing sits on top of the unit. 3. Briefly cut power at the breaker, then switch it back on. 4. Test with a cup of water for thirty seconds. 5. If F3T3 returns, stop and call us.
Heat and steam from pans rise into the hood section. This sensor lets the control watch that heat and protect the electronics. If the reading goes missing, the control shows F3T3.
Cooking below does not damage anything instantly, but the hood cannot guard itself. Keep the heat moderate and avoid long, high-heat sessions until the sensor is checked.
A clean filter helps airflow and keeps the hood cooler. It cannot repair a failed sensor. If the code is still there after cleaning, the thermistor circuit needs testing.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
