On JennAir built-in microwaves, drawers, and microwave cavities of combination wall ovens like the JMC8130DDS, F4 E1 means there may be a problem with the Microwave Sensor or Thermistor, the Microwave Appliance Manager, or the wiring. The sensor lets the unit watch conditions during microwave cooking. Owners see the code and the microwave function may be disabled even if other features still work.
1. Cancel the cycle and leave the door open for a few minutes. 2. Switch the breaker off for one minute, then back on. 3. Heat a cup of water for thirty seconds to test the unit. 4. If F4 E1 returns, stop microwaving and call us. Do not use the microwave empty.
It gives the Microwave Appliance Manager the temperature information it needs during cooking. If the reading is lost, F4 E1 appears and microwave cooking may stop.
The code concerns the microwave side. The oven section may still bake, but have the combination unit examined before relying on either side. Either way, avoid running either side until we have tested the sensor circuit.
