On older JennAir ranges such as the JDR8895AAS and JDS8850AAB, F1-5 points at the oven control, the user interface or keypad, or the wiring connecting them. The code is about the front panel side of the range, not the oven heat. The display may show F1-5 while keys respond slowly, stick, or do not respond at all. Heat may still work, but you may be unable to change settings.
1. Press Cancel and check that the keypad is dry and free of spilled liquid or sticky residue. 2. Wipe the panel gently with a damp soft cloth. 3. Turn off the range at the breaker for a minute, then restore power. 4. Press the keys once each and see if the code clears. If it returns, call us and avoid opening the control panel.
Liquid on the panel can confuse the keypad, which is why a gentle wipe is worth a try. If the code returns after the panel is dry, the keypad or control needs testing.
That pattern points at the user interface or its ribbon wiring. It is useful information to give us when you book. Reading the key behavior carefully helps us decide whether the panel or the wiring is the cause.
It is not a safety alarm, but an oven that does not respond to keys is hard to turn off, so use the breaker if you need to stop it.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
