What FEE6 means

On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges such as the JES1750FS and JIS1450DS, FEE6 means there may be a problem with the main cavity bake element or the associated wiring. The control expects the bake element to draw current and cannot confirm it. Baking stops or never starts, and the display shows FEE6, while broil and the cooktop may still work.

Common causes of FEE6

  • Bake element burned out or open
  • Element terminals or wiring loose or burned
  • Relay or wiring feeding the element
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Cancel the cycle and give the oven plenty of time to cool. 2. Look inside at the bake element along the bottom. Blisters or a visible break are worth noting but don't touch. 3. Turn the breaker off for sixty seconds and back on. 4. Try a bake. If the element doesn't glow red in a few minutes, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • An element and its terminals carry heavy current and can burn connections.
  • Wiring near the element gets very hot.
  • We quote in writing first and cover work for 30 days.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FEE6FEE6 questions
Does FEE6 mean the oven is dead?

Not usually. Only the main cavity bake side is flagged, so the cooktop and often the broil function still work. The oven just cannot confirm that the bake element is drawing current.

Can I check the element myself?

Look at it with the range cold and the power off, but do not test it. The element runs on high current, and a visible blister or break is simply useful information for us.

What if it only happens on bake?

That points toward the bake element or its wiring, which is exactly what the code lists. A problem only in bake mode makes the broil side and the control less likely suspects.
