On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges with electronic oven control, such as the JES1750FS or JDS1750ML, F5 E1 points to the main oven door latch assembly, the door switch, or the wiring tied to them. The oven cannot confirm that the door is latched, which matters for self-clean and sometimes for baking. The display shows F5 E1 and the door may not lock or unlock.
1. Switch everything off and wait for the oven to cool. 2. Close the oven door firmly and make sure nothing is caught in the seal. 3. Cut the breaker for a minute and switch it back on. 4. If F5 E1 returns, do not force the door and call us.
The control wants proof the door is closed and latched, especially for self-clean. If the latch or switch cannot confirm it, the control raises F5 E1.
The door stays locked when the latch cannot release. Let the oven cool, reset the power, and try again. If it is still stuck, do not force it and call us.
They are close cousins. Pro-style RISE and NOIR ranges write it without a space and use a door seating check. This page covers the electronic-control version with a space.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
