JennAir JGC1536BS Service for 36-Inch PowerBurner Gas Cooktops

On a 36-inch gas cooktop, the JGC1536BS combines a 19,000 BTU PowerBurner for fast boiling with a simmer burner that can drop to 800 BTU for sauces and melting. These models usually go in a long counter run with room around them, and they get daily use at both extremes of the flame range.
That range is exactly where trouble shows up. We often find simmer ports packed with residue, or a high burner whose cap is carrying baked-on spatter. Cleaning solves a lot, but if a burner still misbehaves we check the igniter, the spark module and the valve behind the knob.
As with any gas appliance, if you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside. We give a written price before beginning, and our work comes with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
If a burner clicks and never lights while the neighboring burners work, and the burner is clean and dry, the igniter or its connection is the likely cause. We test the spark to confirm.
The simmer burner is designed to be low, down to 800 BTU, but it should still be steady and blue. A flame that flickers or dies often means blocked ports or a misaligned cap.
They can reach the igniters and the spark module wiring. Clean up spills once the cooktop has cooled, and call us if the burners start clicking on their own or are slow to light.
