JennAir Range Code 3d31: Meat probe not seated

What 3d31 means

On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges with a meat probe, such as the JES1750FS or JDS1750ML, code 3d31 asks you to check that the meat probe is securely inserted in the probe receptacle. The receptacle sits inside the oven, and its location varies by model. When the plug is not seated, the control shows 3d31 and may refuse to run a probe cooking mode.

Common causes of 3d31

The meat probe plug is not fully pushed into the receptacle
The probe or its cable is worn or damaged
The receptacle inside the oven has debris or a poor connection

1. Let the oven cool if it is hot. 2. Pull the probe out and wipe the plug end with a dry cloth. 3. Push the plug firmly all the way into the receptacle. 4. Press Cancel and restart the probe mode. 5. If 3d31 still appears with a fully seated probe, call us.

Reaching into a hot oven to wiggle a plug can burn your hand.
A damaged probe cable should not be used for cooking.

Do I need a technician for 3d31?

Not at first. Most of the time the probe just needs to be pushed in fully. If it is seated and the code stays, call us and we check the probe and receptacle.

Can I cook without the probe while 3d31 is shown?

Press Cancel and use a regular time-based Bake without the probe. If the display keeps the code even then, remove the probe completely and start again, and call us if it stays.

Is 3d31 a sign the control is broken?

No. Unlike control codes, this entry points to the probe connection and nothing else. That is why we start with the plug and the receptacle before looking at anything bigger.
