What F2 means

On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges with electronic oven control, such as the JES1750FS and JDS1750ML, F2 means there may be a problem with the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the associated wiring. It is not an over-temperature warning, even though the oven stops. The display shows F2 and cooking is interrupted until the cause is dealt with.

Common causes of F2

  • Oven temperature sensor with an out-of-range reading
  • Wiring damage or a loose sensor plug
  • Oven control unable to interpret the sensor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press Cancel, then wait until the cavity is fully cool. 2. Switch the range off at the breaker for a minute. 3. Turn power back on and run a short bake. 4. Check that oven racks and cookware are clear of the rear sensor. Call us if F2 returns, and keep the oven off meanwhile.

! Why to stop there
  • F2 sounds like overheating but is about sensing, so the repair is different than many owners expect.
  • The sensor circuit needs measuring with the range powered, which we do safely.
  • We quote in writing first and warrant the repair for 30 days.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F2F2 questions
Does F2 mean my oven is too hot?

No. The official wording points to the sensor, the control or the wiring, not an over-temperature condition. The oven simply cannot trust its own reading, so it stops as a protective step and the sensor circuit needs a proper check.

Could the sensor just be loose?

A sensor plug can work loose or corrode, which is why we inspect connectors before replacing parts. Please skip baking, since an oven without a dependable sensor may overshoot.

Why does F2 return after a reset?

A reset only restarts the control. If the sensor circuit is still wrong, the control sees the problem again as soon as it checks, which is why a lasting fix needs the sensor, control or wiring tested.
