What F3 means

On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges with electronic oven control, including the JES1750FS and JIS1450DS, F3 means there may be a problem with the oven control or the associated wiring. The electronics that run the oven have reported a problem, so the cycle stops and the display shows F3. The cooktop may still operate normally. The cooktop is generally unaffected.

Common causes of F3

  • Oven control failing internally
  • Wire harness issue at the control
  • Power disturbance upsetting the control
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press Cancel and let the oven cool. 2. Turn the range off at the breaker for a full minute. 3. Restore power, set the clock and try a short bake. 4. If F3 appears again, switch the oven off and call us. Please do not remove panels or touch the wiring.

! Why to stop there
  • Control problems of this type cannot be repaired by resetting alone.
  • Live circuits behind the range are not safe for owners.
  • We test first, quote in writing and warrant our work for 30 days.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F3F3 questions
Is F3 a sensor code?

No. Plain F3 names the oven control and wiring. The sensor codes in this series are F1 and F2, and the F3 E-codes narrow things further. Check the E-number if one follows F3, because it narrows the cause.

Can I keep using the cooktop?

Often yes, but if burners act strangely too, shut the range off at the breaker and call us. If it keeps coming back, book a visit rather than relying on resets.

What if F3 only appears sometimes?

Intermittent codes still need a visit. Connections that work loose with heat are a common reason. A pattern like that points to heat sensitive parts or a connector that works loose.
