What F3-1 means

On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges with electronic oven control, including the JES1750FS and JGRP430WP, F3-1 is another way the oven reports a possible problem with its temperature sensor, the control, or their wiring. The dash version appears on some control generations instead of the F3 E format. The oven cannot read its own cavity temperature reliably, so it stops or refuses to heat.

Common causes of F3-1

  • The oven temperature sensor is giving an unusual reading
  • The control is not reading the sensor correctly
  • A wiring connection in the sensor circuit is loose or damaged
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the oven off and give it 30 minutes to cool. 2. Switch off the breaker for about a minute and turn it back on. 3. Remove racks and foil that might touch the sensor probe inside the oven. 4. If F3-1 appears again at the next preheat, call us instead of cooking.

! Why to stop there
  • A dash-style code is the same family of warning, and the real source still needs to be measured.
  • Changing the control board without testing the sensor first can cost several times more than needed.
  • We explain what we find and quote the price in writing before touching anything.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F3-1F3-1 questions
Why does my display say F3-1 instead of F3 E0?

Different control generations format the same family of codes differently. F3-1 still concerns the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the wiring between them, so the checks are alike.

Will the oven heat at all with F3-1?

Usually not. Without a reliable temperature reading, the control stops heating or ends the cycle. That protects the oven rather than letting it run blind.

Should I try cleaning the sensor?

A gentle wipe of the probe inside the cavity when cool is fine, but do not bend it. If the code remains, call us and a technician will test the whole circuit.
