On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges with electronic oven control, such as the JES1750FS or JDS1750ML, F7 E6 says there may be a problem with the cooling fan or its wiring. The cooling fan keeps the control area and outer surfaces from overheating. When the control cannot confirm it is running right, the display shows F7 E6 and the oven may stop heating.
1. Turn off the oven and let it cool completely. 2. Switch off the range at the breaker for a minute, then restore power. 3. Start a short bake and listen for the fan after a few minutes. 4. If F7 E6 returns, stop using the oven and call us.
It moves air through the range to keep the control area and outer panels from overheating while the oven runs, which is why the control watches it closely.
If the control cannot confirm the fan is working, it ends the cycle to protect the electronics rather than let heat build up around them.
They are related but not equal. F8 E2 says the cooling fan speed is too high. F7 E6 simply flags a possible problem with the cooling fan or its wiring, so the checks differ.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
