On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges with electronic oven control, such as the JDS1750ML or JDRP548W, F9-3 is the third version of the door lock warning. It says the oven door latch, the door lock switch, or the associated wiring may have a problem. Cooking features that need a locked door, especially self-clean, can be blocked while F9-3 is on the display.
1. Switch the oven off and let it cool. 2. Close the door without slamming and look for anything caught at the edge. 3. Turn the range off at the breaker for one minute, then on. 4. If F9-3 comes back, hold off on self-clean and call us.
The suffix tells the technician which lock check triggered. The label is the same, so we check the latch, the lock switch and the wiring.
Self-clean depends on a locked door and runs at very high heat. With F9-3 showing, it is best not to start it until the lock has been checked.
Let the oven cool, reset the power at the breaker, and try again. Do not pry the door. If it still stays locked, call us.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
