What Lo or Pre means

On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges with electronic oven control, such as the JES1750FS or JDRP548W, Lo or Pre in the display after turning on the oven simply shows that the oven temperature is low, below 170 degrees F, or that it is preheating. On some models, once the oven reaches 170 degrees F the display shows the temperature and rises in 5-degree increments. It is normal.

Common causes of Lo or Pre

  • The oven temperature is still below 170 degrees F
  • The oven is preheating to the set temperature
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Wait while the oven heats; this is normal. 2. Watch for the temperature to appear once it passes 170 degrees F. 3. Do not open the door repeatedly during preheat. 4. If it never moves past Lo or Pre after a long wait, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Nothing is wrong, so a repair visit would waste your money.
  • Only a long stall with no temperature rise deserves a check.
  • If it stalls, we test and quote in writing.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

Lo or PreLo or Pre questions
Is Lo or Pre an error?

No. It is the normal display while the oven is below 170 degrees F or still preheating, so there is nothing to repair when you see it.

When will the actual temperature show?

On some models, once the oven reaches 170 degrees F the display shows the temperature and climbs in 5-degree steps until it reaches the set temperature.

It has been an hour on Pre. What now?

That is not normal. Turn the oven off and call us, and we will check the heating system and give a written price before any work.
