F8E5 is displayed by JennAir over-the-range microwave hoods like the JMV9196CS and JMV8000 series when the oven could not execute the function and the exhaust air temperature sensor or its wiring may be the cause. This sensor watches the temperature of air leaving the unit. With F8E5, the microwave may stop mid-cycle or refuse to run. Built-in JennAir units name an exhaust fan air sensor.
1. Press Stop/Cancel and open the door to cool. 2. Check the exhaust openings for blockage or heavy grease. 3. Make sure nothing sits on top of the hood. 4. Do a one-minute power reset at the breaker. 5. Try a short run with water, and call us if F8E5 repeats.
It can raise exhaust temperatures, but the code names the sensor circuit. Clearing the opening is worth doing, and if F8E5 stays, the sensor itself gets tested.
It lets the control confirm that air is leaving the unit at a safe temperature. Without a reading, the control chooses to stop the function.
If microwaving still works, you have a little time, but use it sparingly. If the unit shuts off constantly, call us now so the sensor does not cause more wear.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
