On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges like the JES1750FS or JGRP430WP, code 4d21 says the oven cooling fan speed is too low. The listed possibilities are an airflow restriction, the oven cooling fan itself, or the wiring to it. The fan keeps the control area and outer parts cool, so the oven may stop heating when the speed drops.
1. Let the range cool. 2. Check that the vents on the front, top and back are clear and that nothing is stacked against the range. 3. Press Cancel. 4. Turn the breaker off for one minute, then on. 5. If 4d21 returns, stop using the oven and call us. Please do not remove panels to look at the fan.
It means something may be blocking the path of cooling air, such as a vent covered by items. Clearing the area is safe. Opening panels to look further is not.
We advise against it. A slow cooling fan lets heat build up in the range, and the control may shut the oven down anyway, so the bake could be ruined partway through.
We check airflow, the fan and its wiring, then give you a written price. If the fan is the problem we replace it, with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
