What F3 E3 means

F3 E3 on JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges with electronic oven control, like the JIS1450DS or JDRP548W, means the oven temperature sensor or the wiring connected to it may have a problem. Unlike its F3 E0 cousin, this version does not name the control, so the sensor circuit is the first place to look. The oven may not heat and the display holds the code.

Common causes of F3 E3

  • The oven temperature sensor is reading out of range
  • A wiring connection to the sensor is loose or damaged
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Switch the oven off and wait until it is completely cool. 2. Reset the range's power at the breaker for one minute, then restore it. 3. Check that nothing inside the cavity is resting against the sensor. 4. If F3 E3 comes back during the next preheat, stop using the oven and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • The sensor sits at the back of the oven cavity, and reaching its wiring takes the range apart.
  • Replacing the sensor when the problem is a connection wastes the part and your money.
  • We check the circuit first, quote the price, and then fix it.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F3 E3F3 E3 questions
How is F3 E3 different from F3 E0?

F3 E0 allows for the control as a cause. F3 E3 points only to the temperature sensor or its wiring, so the check starts at the sensor circuit and ends there if that is the cause.

Is the sensor easy to swap?

It is a small part, but it sits inside the cavity wall and is wired into the range. We do not ask owners to open the range, and we give a written price first.

Can I cook on the cooktop meanwhile?

Often yes, since this code concerns the oven. If the whole display is stuck, switch the range off. When in doubt, hold off and call us.
