What F7 E6 means

On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges with electronic oven control, such as the JES1750FS or JDS1750ML, F7 E6 says there may be a problem with the cooling fan or its wiring. The cooling fan keeps the control area and outer surfaces from overheating. When the control cannot confirm it is running right, the display shows F7 E6 and the oven may stop heating.

Common causes of F7 E6

  • The cooling fan is not running or not running correctly
  • Wiring to the cooling fan is loose or damaged
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn off the oven and let it cool completely. 2. Switch off the range at the breaker for a minute, then restore power. 3. Start a short bake and listen for the fan after a few minutes. 4. If F7 E6 returns, stop using the oven and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Running an oven with a weak cooling fan lets heat build up around the control.
  • A fan problem and a wiring problem look the same until measured.
  • We check both and quote the repair in writing.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F7 E6F7 E6 questions
What does the cooling fan do?

It moves air through the range to keep the control area and outer panels from overheating while the oven runs, which is why the control watches it closely.

Why does the oven stop heating?

If the control cannot confirm the fan is working, it ends the cycle to protect the electronics rather than let heat build up around them.

Is F7 E6 the same as F8 E2?

They are related but not equal. F8 E2 says the cooling fan speed is too high. F7 E6 simply flags a possible problem with the cooling fan or its wiring, so the checks differ.
