JennAir JGR8895BDS Gas Range Service

The JGR8895BDS, also sold as JGR8895BDS12, is a gas pro-style range with sealed burners and a single gas oven. It usually shows up in kitchens with a stainless look and a hood that has already been replaced once or twice, and it has been through several production revisions.
Because of those revisions, the first thing we do is read the label and match the parts. Then we work the cooktop: igniters, caps and burner bases. In the oven we test the sensor, the door lock and the display, all of which start to complain with age.
A gas smell means you should step outside and call the gas utility before anything else. We give a written price up front, and our workmanship carries a 30-day warranty.
They are listed together as the same model with production revisions. We read your rating plate and order the part that matches your revision, so nothing arrives that does not fit.
Often, but not always. A dirty cap seat or clogged port can do the same thing. We clean first and test the igniter second, which usually saves you the cost of a part.
The sensor may be reading off or the display may be miscalibrated. We check the sensor resistance and compare the oven to a thermometer, then replace the one part that is off.
